Telecare

At the heart of Rest Assured® patented web-based Telecare system is a “state-of-the-art” network virtual support and response center located in Lafayette, Indiana. The center is staffed by trained professionals who monitor clients and their living environment using custom software designed and developed by Wabash Center with support from the Purdue University College of Technology.  Each client’s home is connected to the center using a broadband Internet connection secured by a Virtual Private Network (VPN).  Within the home, virtual support devices and cameras are connected to the Internet using the latest wireless technology, eliminating most of the need for unsightly or expensive in-home wiring.

Rest Assured® also maintains a secure database with detailed information about each client.  This information is compiled and updated by the agency, provider, or family member.  The database allows the Rest Assured Remote Caregiver instant access to critical information about a client at the touch of a computer key or the click of a mouse.

Should a client require assistance, the Rest Assured Remote Caregiver can immediately interact with the client to assess the situation and provide supportive prompts.  This is done through a real-time two-way video conference.  In most cases, the Rest Assured Remote Caregiver can manage the situation by talking to the client.  If necessary, the agency’s or provider’s on-call staff person or a family member is dispatched to provide on-site assistance.

In critical situations, the Rest Assured Remote Caregiver first contacts local emergency services. The Rest Assured Remote Caregiver may also alert other significant people in the client’s life as requested or directed by the agency, provider, the client, or family members.
