Rest Assured® launches website!
Lafayette, Indiana, December 2006 – A coalition of public and private organizations led by Kentucky-based ResCare, Inc., has launched www.restassuredsystem.com, the home site for the Rest Assured® Telecare system.
Rest Assured® uses 21st century technology to connect seniors and handicapped adults with state-of-the-art support. The patented system combines the use of home-based sensors and cameras, broadband wireless technology, and customized software to connect clients at home with professionals at a state-of-the-art Telecare center in Lafayette, Indiana.
Rest Assured® protects privacy while safeguarding health and safety. The center’s trained staff members monitor client homes and use two-way videoconferencing to communicate with clients when they need help with day to day activities. When a client needs on-site support, a Telecare professional can quickly dispatch a local family member, friend, or health care provider to the home. In the event of a serious problem, the center calls for emergency assistance.
The new Rest Assured® website, www.restassuredsystem.com, helps visitors explore the Rest Assured system’s capabilities. Customers include seniors and handicapped adults and their families as well as community services agencies and home care providers looking for innovative ways to serve their clients. By partnering with Rest Assured® to offer Telecare, community services and home care organizations can often provide better and more efficient services. The Telecare system allows a single professional to monitor multiple clients at different locations, making Rest Assured® a cost-effective alternative to on-site care.
Features of the new website include rotating Flash images of Rest Assured® clients and staff, information about how the system uses the latest telecommunications and consumer technologies to provide remote support, and a video page with clips that show the Rest Assured® system in action.
There are currently about 70 elderly and handicapped clients using Rest Assured®. State agencies, pressed to find ways to deliver Medicaid services more cost-effectively, are studying the system to see how it can lower the cost of care while enabling them to serve a greater number of needy residents. The state of Indiana is among the system’s early adopters, and has estimated that Telecare could save the state $14 to $15 million annually for overnight support services alone.
The Rest Assured® website is currently available only in English, but visitors will soon be able to access the site’s content in either English or Spanish.
Rest Assured® is now a member of the ResCare family of companies.
Information about the Rest Assured leadership team is available on the company’s new website. The customized software used at the Rest Assured® Telecare center was originally designed and developed by Indiana’s nonprofit Wabash Center with support from the Purdue University College of Technology.
